Hotel In Wayanad

A Nice Trip From Mumbai To Calicut To Visit Cultural Festival

Wayanad is known to be a place where often there are cultural festivals taking place from time to time. Often I have heard about such festivals and have seen them online, but this time I had craved to see it in front of me.

Hence, I searched for the cultural festival taking place in the city, and I decided to visit the place. I had to do some preparations to reach Wayanad from Mumbai via Calicut as there are no direct options to reach Wayanad from Mumbai.

Trip from Mumbai to Wayanad

Reaching Wayanad directly from Mumbai is not possible, and hence I had to break down at Calicut. I searched online and got the best deals with Indigo Airlines and hence booked my ticket from Mumbai to Calicut in the economy class of Indigo airlines.

It took me about 1 hour and 50 minutes to reach Calicut from Mumbai. From Calicut, I hired a taxi and reached Wayanad at the hotel that I had booked for my stay. It took me about 2 hours and 30 minutes’ drive from Calicut to reach Wayanad through NH766 route.

My Stay in Wayanad

Wayanad is an amazingly beautiful city and hence I decided to stay in a homestay in place of a hotel in Wayanad. I had my room booked in a 3 star rated guest house in Wayanad Dhanagiri Home Stay.

As it was a guest house, so the rooms were limited, but all the rooms were air conditioned and very well furnished and equipped with all the modern amenities that is needed to stay in comfort.

There was a restaurant that offered local cuisine dishes along with some of the other national and international dishes also. Free internet was there to make the stay even more convenient. Tourists who have arrived for adventure trip can have great fun with trekking, bamboo river rafting and other activities offered by the guest house.

Enjoying the Special Cuisine Was Awesome!

Apart from attending the cultural festival here, I also wanted to taste some of the most popular local cuisines out here. I had tasted many at the restaurant of the hotel and also at the place where the cultural event was going on. One of the dishes that I liked the most here was the Fish moilee.

It is close to the Kerala style fish preparation and is super spicy to taste. I had the dish with steamed rice, and it felt amazing. On asking about its ingredients, the staff of my hotel said that it was prepared with fish, coconut milk and lots of spices.

It was mainly a Portuguese dish, but now it is prepared with an Indian origin or Indian taste. The dish is not just famous in India but also other parts of the world such as Singapore and Malaysia.

Finally, my wish to see one of the cultural events in Wayanad was fulfilled. The best part was that I not just attended the cultural event but also I enjoyed the amazing environment as well as the delicious local dishes of here.
